Market News, Memorial Day, and Summer!

MARKET -

The past 15 months has brought a lot of volatility in more than one way!  This year, 2026, the S&P 500 index was negative eight percent year to date to March 30th and now as of the middle of May is positive nearly nine percent year to date... a ride for sure.  Saying that, the thesis I had Q3 of 2025 is nearly what has transpired, other than ‘missiles being lobbed back and forth’, which none of us can forecast or control; April inflation is reporting as 3.8% largely due to energy price increases. The labor market is relatively strong with April unemployment reporting 4.3% and 10yr UST at 4.4% is relatively similar over the past four years.

In the near term if you are one of my Investment Advisory clients, I will be delivering you portfolio holding/rebalance information – currently I am not making a rebalance even though this can create more account fluctuations.  In today's equity market it makes sense to allow things to be a bit overweight towards the allocation limits.

THINKING OF YOU -

Saying all this – the market is not the only ride we’ve been on... I want to share my deepest thoughts and prayers for you families that have experienced your loved one passing and also for those of you having to provide extra care for your dear spouse or parent.  Know that I daily think of, pray for, feel for you, and review and plan for you financially.  We are connected and I am grateful to help you in these times of life.

Many of you have recently asked me about my family, kids, parents, and mother.  Mom is well – at home with dad, strong, making almost every one of Portia and Asher’s softball and baseball games.  They will be taking an Iowa and Minnesota trip to celebrate the family farm and see family and friends.

EXCITING TIMES FOR OUR FAMILY -

Portia and Asher have finished their freshman and junior year, Crazy!  Portia is all-in for softball this summer with her team having many tournaments and a few travel tournaments – she's awesome at this sport.  Asher has a chalk-full summer of baseball that he is looking forward to, it's with several of his best buddies.  Asher also has decided to take advantage of a wonderful opportunity.  He’ll complete his senior year remotely (he only has three courses to finish – wow) in Scottsdale, AZ at a baseball program; they’ll train daily in the fall, then January to the end of April the team will play nearly 60 games versus Arizona junior colleges and four year college JV teams.  We are so happy for him being given this opportunity and choosing to go for it!

You are so important to us, we appreciate you and are grateful for our continued relationship.

Have a beautiful start to summer and check out this link in remembrance of Memorial Day.  Take time to read this if you have a minute.

God Bless You, your family, and our country

– Josh
